When are the Euro 2024 qualifiers and who can still qualify?

This article includes all the teams, fixtures, dates and times you need to know before the line up for this summers spectacle of football is complete.

With 21 of 24 teams already confirmed to be at this years euro 2024 finals in Germany, here we take a look at who could fill the final 3 spots and what they have to do to get there.

Path A

The winners of path A will join group D with previous winners France, The Netherlands and 2008 joint hosts Austria.

Game 3

  • Winners of Game 2 vs Winners of Game 1
  • When: 26th March 2024

Poland, a relative mainstay of major international tournaments and Estonia having never qualified for one this pairing suggests only one outcome. Estonia with their relatively unknown squad will be battling hard for a result against a strong polish team led by Robert Lewandowski. Could this be his last chance at a major tournament with Poland?

With wales qualifying for the previous 2 tournaments and Finland qualifying in 2020 this feels like a more balanced affair. Both teams will be vying to win to secure a home advantage in the final match of path A.

Path B

The winners of path B will join Group E with Belgium, Slovakia and Romania.

Game 1

  • Israel vs Iceland
  • Where: Ferenc Szusza Stadium
  • When: 21st March 2024, 19:45 GMT

Game 2

  • Bosnia Herzegovina vs Ukraine
  • Where: Bilino Polje
  • When: 21st March 2024, 19:45 GMT

Game 3

  • Winners of Game 2 vs Winners of Game 1
  • When: 26th March 2024

Unrest outside of football in Israel has forced their game against Iceland to take place in Budapest, Hungary. Israel are another team to have never qualified for a European championship finals although they did win the Asian cup before their switch to UEFA. Iceland, following their heroics in France 2016, beating the likes of England on their way to the last 8, failed to qualify for the 2020 edition so will be hoping to push forward and cause more upsets in Germany.

Bosnia and Herzegovina with their one World Cup appearance in 2014 are somewhat unknown in major football tournaments, Ukraine on the other hand have a couple of quarter final appearances under their belts. In the current climate Ukraine will almost certainly have the neutral backing in this fixture. Both teams would certainly fancy their chances in a home tie against either of Israel or Iceland.

Path C

The winners of Path C will join Group F with Turkey, Czechia and Portugal. The latter 2 both having won and been runners up of previous tournaments.

Game 1

  • Georgia vs Luxembourg
  • Where: Boris Paichadze Stadium
  • When: 21st March 2024, 17:00 GMT

Game 2

  • Greece vs Kazakhstan
  • Where: OPAP Arena
  • When: 21st March 2024, 19:45 GMT

Game 3

  • Winner Game 1 vs Winner Game 2
  • When: 26th March 2024

Georgia vs Luxembourg is a fixture between two nations considered minnows in European football. Neither team has ever qualified for a major international tournament and to have gotten this far is a massive achievement for both countries. A home draw is the prize for the winner of this game giving both teams hopes of qualifying for the finals.

Surprise 2004 European championship winners Greece will fancy their chances of a fifth finals appearance at Euro 2024 but Kazakhstan will be trying hard to stop that happening. Yet another team who have never qualified for a major tournament Kazakhstan will be hoping this will be their year.

With the teams ranging from a previous winner all the way down to those who’ve never qualified for a major tournament before who knows what surprises might be in store. With 12 teams fighting for only 3 spaces who do you think will qualify for Germany 2024?
